Sustainiam, a climate tech startup focused on carbon management and sustainability, has successfully raised USD 1.45 million in its Pre-Series A funding round. This round was led by Orios Venture Partners, with support from notable investors including Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Rajesh Sawhney, Harsh Vardhan Bhachandka, and Vinit Bhansali.
The funding will help Sustainiam launch the world’s first fully digital, tech-driven platform for carbon credits and environmental assets. This move is expected to solidify Sustainiam’s position as a global leader in carbon credit management. The funds will also support the startup’s plans to expand its operations globally and grow its team.
Founded in 2023, Sustainiam offers technology-driven solutions for businesses to manage their carbon footprints. Through its platform, companies can issue and trade International Renewable Energy Certificates (IRECs) and other carbon certificates. Sustainiam has already traded over 60 crore kWh in carbon assets and expects to generate Rs 70 crore in revenue by 2025. The company has quickly gained trust, working with high-profile clients like Coca-Cola, ITC, and Brookfield.
Government Recognition
Sustainiam has been recognized by the Government of Karnataka, which awarded the company Rs 25 Lakh in cash and Rs 75 Lakh in benefits through its Elevate 2023 Call 2 program. The company has also been selected for the Greenr Sustainability Accelerator Program, supported by the IKEA Foundation and VISA Foundation. These accolades help establish Sustainiam’s credibility and leadership in the sustainability space.
Sapna Nijhawan, Founder and CEO of Sustainiam, shared her excitement about the future of carbon credit trading. “The global carbon market, worth over USD 700 billion, is still traded using outdated methods. Our platform digitizes the process of creating, registering, and trading carbon credits, which will unlock new opportunities and help maximize incentives for carbon generators,” she said.
Sukhmani, Partner at Orios Venture Partners, expressed confidence in Sustainiam’s ability to lead the global market. “We believe in Sustainiam’s vision to enhance transparency in carbon trading, both in India and globally. Their platform has the potential to be a leader in the carbon credit market,” he added.
Support from Investors
Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra, a prominent investor, also spoke about her support for Sustainiam. “I’m excited to invest in Sustainiam, a platform making it easier for businesses to offset their carbon footprints and contribute to climate action. This platform improves transparency and allows more people to join the global effort to reduce carbon emissions,” she said.
Through this funding and its innovative platform, Sustainiam is well on its way to revolutionizing the carbon credit market and playing a key role in the fight against climate change.
