Marut Dronetech Secures $6.2 Million to Advance Drone Technology in Agriculture

Hyderabad-based startup Marut Dronetech has raised $6.2 million in its Series A funding round, led by Lok Capital. This new funding will help the company advance its innovative drone technology, particularly in agriculture. Marut plans to use this investment to develop customized drones for farming, expand its service network in smaller towns and rural areas, and establish “Drone-as-a-Service” hubs through partnerships with local businesses.

Operations and Rural Reach

Marut aims to expand its presence in tier II-III cities to better serve rural communities. The company also intends to establish 17 new drone academies to train skilled professionals and provide career opportunities in drone technology. Through these initiatives, Marut hopes to foster drone entrepreneurship and create job opportunities in the sector.

Research and Development

In addition to scaling its reach, Marut plans to boost its research and development efforts by collaborating with leading institutions in India. This will enable the startup to develop advanced agricultural applications, such as direct seeding and crop monitoring. These technologies aim to support farmers by making agricultural practices more efficient and sustainable.

Scaling Manufacturing

Prem Kumar Vislawath, CEO and Co-Founder of Marut Dronetech, emphasized the importance of this investment, stating that it will enable the company to grow its team, expand manufacturing capacity to 3,000 drones per year, and increase marketing efforts. Marut Dronetech is aiming to reach a revenue target of Rs 1,000 crore over the next five years.

Leading the Way

Founded in 2019 by Prem Kumar Vislawath, Suraj Peddi, and Sai Kumar Chinthala, Marut Dronetech has emerged as a leading player in drone technology in India. The company currently operates 750 drones and employs over 200 professionals across 14 Indian states, offering solutions in agriculture, disaster management, and surveillance.

Support for Agriculture

Hari Krishnan, Director at Lok Capital, highlighted the benefits of using drones in agriculture, such as improving crop health, conserving water, and avoiding chemical exposure. Lok Capital’s investment in Marut will support the company’s market expansion, innovation in drone technology, and efforts toward indigenous manufacturing.

Solution for Farmers

Marut Dronetech recently launched the AG365H, a DGCA Type Certified agricultural drone designed for practical farming applications. This drone supports activities like fish feeding, fertilizer broadcasting, and pesticide spraying, showcasing Marut’s dedication to providing real-world solutions that benefit India’s agricultural landscape.
