Lenskart Invests in Ajna Lens to Power Future of Smart Glasses

Share post:

Eyewear giant Lenskart has taken a big step into the smart wearables space by investing in Ajna Lens, a deep-tech startup based in Mumbai. This move marks Lenskart’s growing interest in AI-powered Smart Glasses, aiming to combine daily eyewear comfort with cutting-edge technology.

The investment highlights Lenskart’s intention to push boundaries in eyewear innovation. Ajna Lens is widely known for its AjnaXR headset, which won the CES Innovation Award 2023. This partnership is expected to bring advanced XR (extended reality) technology to everyday glasses.

Combining Strengths for Future

Ajna Lens brings strong expertise in spatial computing, AI vision, and immersive XR technology. Lenskart, on the other hand, offers a proven track record in eyewear design, smart retail systems, and customer-first product strategies.

Together, the two companies want to create Smart Glasses that are stylish and practical, not just futuristic gadgets. Lenskart says its goal is to keep comfort and wearability at the center of the product, stressing that “Smart Glasses are glasses first.”

Global Vision, Local Innovation

Lenskart operates in 14 countries, offering it access to a wide range of customer data and feedback. This will help the team build smart glasses that meet global expectations while remaining user-friendly and affordable.

The collaboration also builds on Lenskart’s earlier Smart Glasses experience. In December 2024, the company launched Phonic, its first pair of audio-enabled smart glasses. Now, with Ajna Lens onboard, Lenskart is set to develop even more advanced products in the wearable tech segment.

What is Lenskart?

Founded in 2010, Lenskart is one of India’s largest omnichannel eyewear brands. It offers prescription glasses, contact lenses, and sunglasses through a combination of online platforms and offline stores. Known for using technology to enhance retail, Lenskart has built a strong global footprint and aims to revolutionize how people buy and use eyewear.

CEO Peyush Bansal shared that the investment in Ajna Lens represents the next big leap in their innovation journey. “We’re not just selling eyewear, we’re building experiences that align with modern lifestyles and future tech,” he said.

What Lies Ahead

Founded in 2014, Ajna Lens is an Indian startup focused on next-gen immersive tools using AI and XR. Although financial terms of the deal haven’t been made public, the partnership could soon produce India’s first widely-used smart eyewear for the masses. As wearable tech gains popularity across the world, Lenskart’s move could position it as a leader in the Smart Glasses segment. With Ajna’s innovation engine and Lenskart’s consumer reach, the next wave of intelligent eyewear may be closer than we think.
