Kolkata Startup Amwoodo Bags $4M for Bamboo Products

Share post:

Kolkata-based startup Amwoodo has announced a successful $4 million Pre-Series A funding round led by Rainmatter, with participation from Adventz Group, Thinkuvate, and Caspian, to scale its bamboo-based sustainable products. This fresh investment marks a crucial step for the brand as it aims to scale its operations and expand its presence across India and international markets.

Founded in 2019, Amwoodo has carved a niche in offering bamboo-based products as practical, eco-friendly alternatives to single-use plastics. The company already supplies to leading businesses including Himalaya Wellness Company, Bombay Shaving Company, and ITC Hotels, while also running its own Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) marketplace, Ecoconsious, to reach individual consumers directly.

The funding will be directed towards expanding production capacity, strengthening D2C offerings, and introducing new brands under the umbrella of the House of Amwoodo. The company also has plans to launch community-focused initiatives aimed at supporting bamboo-growing regions, creating employment, and improving livelihoods for rural communities.

By focusing on sustainable alternatives, Amwoodo is not only driving eco-friendly consumption but also contributing to long-term environmental benefits. Company representatives highlighted that this funding will help accelerate their vision of replacing everyday plastic with bamboo-based solutions, while also building a stronger presence across global markets.

Recognition and Mission

Amwoodo has quickly emerged as a trusted name in the sustainability sector. The company has been certified as a Great Place to Work® (India) and has earned recognition in several industry publications for its commitment to eco-conscious innovation.

Its approach has always been sustainability-first, with bamboo positioned as the material of the future for multiple consumer categories. From household essentials to premium lifestyle products, Amwoodo is proving that eco-friendly solutions can be both practical and stylish.

About Amwoodo

Amwoodo Eco Products Private Limited develops a wide range of bamboo-based alternatives covering personal care, oral care, stationery, hotel amenities, and corporate gifting. Since its inception in 2019, the company has aimed to address the global plastic crisis by designing innovative solutions rooted in sustainability.

For everyday consumers, Amwoodo’s D2C platform Ecoconsious has become a go-to marketplace for affordable and reliable bamboo products. This positions the brand not just as a manufacturer but also as a lifestyle choice for conscious consumers.

Many people wonder, what is Amwoodo and why it has become a rising name in sustainability. Simply put, Amwoodo is a Kolkata-based startup championing the idea of replacing single-use plastics with bamboo across categories. Unlike many eco-friendly brands that focus on niche products, Amwoodo has adopted a holistic approach, offering everything from bamboo toothbrushes and stationery to hotel amenities and gifting solutions.

By building partnerships with top businesses and strengthening its consumer-facing marketplace, Amwoodo is steadily shaping itself into a House of Sustainable Brands. With its fresh funding round, the company is now better positioned to become a global name in bamboo innovation.

How Amwoodo Stands Apart

India has seen the rise of several eco-friendly startups, many focusing on organic personal care, biodegradable packaging, or sustainable fashion. However, Amwoodo differentiates itself by betting big on bamboo as a versatile and scalable material. While others concentrate on a single vertical, Amwoodo’s multi-category approach — from D2C consumer goods to large B2B supplies — gives it a unique edge in the sustainability ecosystem.

Its direct partnerships with major Indian brands and its ability to deliver both mass-market and premium eco-products make Amwoodo a frontrunner in this space. As global demand for plastic-free alternatives grows, Amwoodo is positioning itself not just as another green startup but as a comprehensive bamboo-based solutions provider with international ambitions.
