Avis Hospital has raised USD 2.5 million in funding from NABVENTURES, the venture capital arm of NABARD. The round was led by private investment banking firm Equity 360. This funding will help the hospital grow its services into over 15 tier II and tier III cities in India.
The hospital is also planning to expand its rural outreach using mobile screening camps and modern diagnostic tools. These efforts are part of Avis Hospital’s mission to make specialized treatment for varicose veins more accessible across underserved regions.
Focus on Rural Health
Avis Hospital was founded by Dr. Rajah V Koppala, a US-trained Vascular and Interventional Radiologist. He started the hospital after noticing how common varicose veins were among farmers and rural families. “Every time I saw a farmer limping or a mother struggling to walk her child to school, I knew we had to build something different,” he shared.
Based in Hyderabad, Avis is India’s only hospital completely focused on the treatment of varicose veins. The hospital uses minimally invasive methods such as EVLT (Endovenous Laser Therapy) and other laser-based treatments. To date, over 40,000 patients have received care through its advanced procedures.
Avis Hospital Funding
Sumeet Seraf, founder of Equity 360, noted that the funding is not only about improving health but also about protecting the livelihoods and dignity of rural citizens. He emphasized the broader value of quality healthcare access in sustaining rural communities.
Ashish Choudhury, Chief Investment Officer at NABVENTURES, added that Avis Hospital stands out because it offers both clinical quality and rural relevance. He believes the model has potential to scale across India, especially where healthcare services are hard to find.
Plans to Reach Deeper
With this new capital, Avis Hospital plans to establish a rural-first healthcare network. The focus will be on affordability, increased access to treatment, and educating people about varicose veins. The use of mobile vans and screening camps will ensure that even remote villages benefit from quality healthcare.
This funding marks a step forward in bringing high-quality, specialized care to areas often left behind in India’s healthcare growth. Avis aims to become a national leader in treating vein-related conditions in a simple, accessible, and cost-effective manner.
Top Hospitals in India
Avis Hospital is now considered one of India’s emerging specialty healthcare providers focused on a single condition. Other top hospitals in the country include All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Apollo Hospitals, Fortis Healthcare, and Medanta. While many of these serve broader health needs, Avis is carving out a unique niche by concentrating on varicose vein treatment with a rural-first mindset.
