New Delhi: Rohan Malhotra, co-founder and managing partner of Good Capital, an early-stage venture capital firm, sadly passed away on October 1. He was highly respected for his sharp investment insights and strong dedication to supporting entrepreneurs. Malhotra co-founded Good Capital in 2019 with his brother, Arjun Malhotra. In a short time, the firm became an important player in India’s venture capital scene, investing in innovative startups focusing on agent-led distribution models and problem-solving through first-principles thinking.
A Passion for Business
Rohan Malhotra had a deep passion for business from a young age. He started his career as an intern at HSBC and quickly made a name for himself in the startup world. Before starting Good Capital, he co-founded Investopad, a startup incubator aimed at helping early-stage entrepreneurs and promoting innovation.
Under Rohan’s guidance, Good Capital invested in several impactful companies, including Meesho, Orange Health, Solar Square Energy, and HyperTrack. The firm also launched its first fund, targeting a total of $25 million, to invest in startups ranging from pre-seed to Series A stages. He earned an M.A. in Business Management from the University of St. Andrews and completed a program at Yale University in Economics.
Mourning in the Startup Community
The Indian startup ecosystem is mourning the loss of Rohan Malhotra. Many friends, colleagues, and industry leaders have expressed their condolences. Zishaan Hayath, co-founder of edtech startup Toppr, wrote, “Shattering to think of a world without you, Rohan. You filled us with warmth, laughter, and ambition. Travel well, my brother.”
Rahul Chaudhary, co-founder of Treebo, shared, “Feeling broken. The kindest, most generous, and open-hearted person ever. Rest in peace, Rohan.” Former Pakistan Cricket Team coach Waqar Younis expressed his sorrow, stating, “Rohan was more than a friend; he was my little brother, my golf partner, and an irreplaceable human being. Life can be very unfair at times.”
