According to a recent report by Informa Connect Academy, Elon Musk, the owner of X (formerly Twitter) and the world’s richest man, is expected to be the first person to reach a trillion-dollar net worth by 2027. However, the report also forecasts that Indian billionaire Gautam Adani is on track to become the second trillionaire in the world and India’s first by 2028, thanks to his impressive wealth growth rate.
Adani Surpasses Ambani
The report reveals that Gautam Adani is poised to surpass Mukesh Ambani, India’s current richest individual, in the race to trillionaire status. While Adani’s wealth is growing at an impressive annual rate of 122.86%, Ambani’s slower growth rate of 28.25% means he is expected to reach trillionaire status later, by 2033. This puts Ambani in the eighth position globally, behind several other billionaires expected to achieve trillionaire status before him.
Other Billionaires in Line
The report also lists other wealthy business individuals who are projected to become trillionaires over the next few decades. Some notable names include Jensen Huang and Prajogo Pangestu, who are expected to become trillionaires by 2028, followed by Bernard Arnault, Mark Zuckerberg, and Phil Knight by 2030. Others, like Michael Dell, Steve Ballmer, and Jeff Bezos, will reach this milestone in the 2030s and 2040s.
Global Trillionaire Distribution
The United States is predicted to lead the world in the number of future trillionaires, with 17 out of the 28 names on the list. Countries like India and France each have two billionaires expected to reach trillionaire status. China, Indonesia, Spain, Canada, Mexico, Italy, and Japan are each projected to have one future trillionaire, reflecting the widespread accumulation of wealth across the globe.
With Adani’s rapid rise in wealth, the report suggests a major shift in India’s billionaire rankings and a significant moment for the global economy.
