New Delhi: Businessman and angel investor Neeraj Tyagi, co-founder of We Founder Circle (WFC), Avinya Ventures, and Invstt, passed away on Saturday, August 16, at the age of 50. His passing has deeply saddened India’s startup ecosystem, where he was known as a mentor, investor, and strong supporter of early-stage founders.

At We Founder Circle, launched in 2020, Tyagi played a key role in shaping one of the most active angel networks in the country. In just three years, WFC facilitated over 100 startup deals, giving a major push to India’s startup investment scene.

Contributions to Startups

Tyagi also co-founded Invstt, a global marketplace connecting startups and investors. With over 27,000 investors from 66 countries and 900 cities, it created new opportunities for entrepreneurs worldwide. In 2024, he expanded his vision with Avinya Ventures, focusing on institutionalising early-stage investments, especially in technology-driven startups.

Personally, Tyagi invested in more than 60 startups. His portfolio included well-known names such as BluSmart, Rooter, Zypp Electric, Oben Electric, Anveshan, ClearDekho, HealthySure, Garuda Aerospace, and Hesa. His strong interest in electric mobility and technology sectors was reflected in his early support for Zypp Electric since 2018 and Oben Electric since 2021.

Tributes from Founders

After the news of his death, entrepreneurs and peers shared heartfelt tributes. Vikas Bagaria, founder of Pee Safe, expressed shock at his untimely passing. Similarly, Ritesh Jain, founder of Infynit, recalled his recent conversations with Tyagi and reflected on his words, “life is too fragile.”

Before starting his own ventures, Tyagi served as managing partner at Venture Catalysts, where he contributed to fundraising for more than 200 companies. Earlier, he also ran a successful content production company, working with global clients such as Microsoft, Google, Network18, and Whirlpool.

MBA Chaiwala Expresses Grief

Prafull Billore, better known as MBA Chaiwala, shared an emotional message on Tyagi’s passing. He said Tyagi was not only a leader in the startup space but also a guiding light for many entrepreneurs. Billore remembered his energy, positivity, and ability to inspire founders by seeing startups not just as businesses but as dreams that could transform lives.

He added that Tyagi’s passion for mentoring and supporting founders was contagious and that his legacy would live on through the countless entrepreneurs he helped. Billore extended his condolences to Tyagi’s family, friends, and the entire startup community, hoping his inspiring work continues to guide future generations.
