Blinkit, a leading quick-commerce platform, has launched a groundbreaking 10-minute ambulance service in Gurugram. This new initiative aims to address emergency medical needs quickly and efficiently. The company plans to expand this service to other major Indian cities over the next two years.
Ambulances for Emergency Care
The ambulances are equipped with essential medical tools such as oxygen cylinders, Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), stretchers, and emergency medicines. Each ambulance will have a trained paramedic, an assistant, and a professional driver to ensure the safety and care of patients during transit.
Booking Made Easy via Blinkit App
Users in Gurugram can book a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance through the Blinkit app. The service is designed to be accessible and affordable for everyone. Albinder Dhindsa, CEO of Blinkit, emphasized the company’s commitment to solving critical healthcare challenges rather than focusing on profits.
Affordable and Transparent Pricing
A promotional image shared by Dhindsa revealed that the service would charge a flat fee of Rs 2,000. However, the service does not cater to neonatal or ventilator care. Dhindsa reiterated the importance of keeping costs reasonable while addressing a significant gap in emergency medical services.
Public Reactions to the Initiative
The announcement received mixed reactions on social media. While many users praised Blinkit for its innovative approach to saving lives, others criticized the commercialization of emergency services. Some argued that such life-saving initiatives should ideally be government-funded and free for citizens.
Deepinder Goyal, CEO of Zomato, commended Blinkit’s initiative. He described the service as a world-first and a step beyond quick commerce. “Quick is not just about commerce. It’s about saving lives as well,” Goyal wrote on X.
Plans for Expansion Across India
Blinkit aims to expand the service to other cities across India in the coming years. The initiative reflects the company’s broader vision of leveraging its quick-delivery expertise to make a positive impact on society. By providing faster access to emergency care, Blinkit hopes to set a new standard for healthcare services in India.
Blinkit’s 10-minute ambulance service is a bold move that combines technology, logistics, and healthcare. With plans for nationwide expansion, the initiative has the potential to revolutionize emergency medical response in India.
