LIC Offices Open on Sunday Before Financial Year Closing

Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has announced that its offices will remain open on Saturday, Sunday, and even Monday, March 31, despite the public holiday on account of Eid. This special move aims to assist policyholders in paying their premiums without any inconvenience before the financial year ends. The announcement comes as part of LIC’s efforts to ensure smooth services during a crucial time for both customers and businesses.

LIC Offices Open on Sunday

In a rare step, LIC branches across different zones and divisions will operate on Sunday, March 30, to help customers with their policy-related tasks. Typically, Sundays are non-working days for LIC offices, but this initiative ensures that policyholders can complete important transactions, such as premium payments, ahead of the financial year closing.

LIC stated that its branches will remain open during normal business hours on March 29, March 30 (Sunday), and March 31 (Monday) to avoid any hardship to its customers. The extended working hours are part of an advisory issued by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) on March 12, 2025.

Serving Customers Before Financial Year-End

The end of March is critical for financial transactions, including tax-saving investments, policy renewals, and premium payments. Many policyholders prefer paying premiums before March 31 to avail of tax benefits under sections like 80C of the Income Tax Act. LIC’s decision to open offices on the weekend ensures that no customer faces difficulty in meeting these deadlines.

By keeping its doors open on Sunday and the public holiday (March 31), LIC demonstrates its commitment to customer convenience and financial inclusion.

About Life Insurance Corporation (LIC)

LIC is India’s largest life insurance company and has been serving millions of policyholders for decades. Established in 1956, LIC offers a wide range of life insurance products, including term insurance, endowment policies, pension plans, and unit-linked insurance plans (ULIPs). Its extensive network of branches and agents makes it one of the most accessible insurers in the country.

Recently, LIC has been making efforts to enhance digital services by launching online premium payment options, mobile apps, and customer portals. These steps aim to improve efficiency and reduce dependency on physical visits. However, for customers who still prefer in-person services, LIC’s extended working hours during the financial year closing are a welcome move.

Working Hours to Support Customers

With this proactive decision, LIC hopes to make it easier for policyholders to meet important deadlines and fulfill their financial obligations without any last-minute hassle. Whether it’s paying premiums, renewing policies, or seeking assistance, customers can visit LIC offices on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday and get their work done seamlessly.
