Riya Suri has joined Samsung India as Chief Marketing Manager, marking a senior leadership move in the company’s marketing team. The appointment follows her exit from smartphone brand vivo, where she spent close to four years in different roles.
In her new position, Suri is expected to focus on digital-led marketing initiatives, with particular emphasis on smartphone launches and long-term brand-building efforts. Her responsibilities include overseeing end-to-end campaign execution across platforms and formats.
The role also involves translating product and technology capabilities into clear consumer messaging, while working closely with internal teams and external agencies to ensure consistency and quality across marketing outputs. Data-driven performance tracking and optimisation are expected to remain central to her approach.
New Role At Samsung
Before joining Samsung India, Suri worked at vivo for over three years, where she progressed from Assistant Manager to Manager. During this period, she handled product public relations for vivo India and was involved in managing communications across multiple product portfolios.
Her responsibilities at vivo included crisis communication, media engagement, and relationship management with a wide network of technology journalists and key opinion leaders. She also worked with consumer insights teams to monitor brand perception and improve visibility in a competitive smartphone market.

In addition, Suri collaborated with agencies and cross-functional teams on integrated product marketing campaigns, contributing to launch strategies and ongoing brand communication efforts.
Earlier Career Experience
Prior to her stint at vivo, Suri spent more than three and a half years at Cheil India, an agency closely associated with Samsung’s global marketing operations. Her last role there was Account Supervisor and Influencer Marketing Lead.
At Cheil, she worked across campaign planning, digital performance marketing, influencer programmes, content strategy, and media placements. She was also involved in developing long-term creator advocacy initiatives, including contributions to the Samsung Galaxy Creators Program.
This phase of her career provided exposure to both strategic planning and execution across digital and influencer-driven campaigns, particularly in the consumer electronics and smartphone category.
Industry Context
With experience across agency and client-side roles, Suri brings a mix of digital marketing, influencer engagement, and performance-led campaign management to her new position. Her return to Samsung, this time on the client side, adds continuity as well as category familiarity.
Samsung India has been investing steadily in digital-first marketing as competition in the smartphone segment intensifies. Strengthening leadership in this area is seen as important as brands focus on sharper storytelling, faster launches, and deeper online engagement.
Suri’s appointment reflects a broader trend of companies hiring marketing leaders with hybrid experience across agencies and brands, especially in technology-driven sectors where speed, data, and platform diversity play a critical role.
