Online travel giant MakeMyTrip has introduced an AI-powered Semantic Search feature for its hotel and homestay discovery platform. The new system allows travellers to find stays by typing or speaking their requirements in simple, natural language—eliminating the need to scroll through endless filters and drop-down menus.
The feature is built on the same advanced AI framework as Myra, the company’s GenAI-enabled trip planning assistant. By interpreting open-ended queries, the system ensures more accurate results tailored to traveller intent.
MakeMyTrip AI Search
Instead of navigating multiple filters, users can now search using natural queries such as “pet-friendly hotels in Manali with a swimming pool” or “heritage stays near Jaipur forts with parking.” The AI processes these requests and provides relevant property listings, complete with visuals, AI-curated user-generated content, and personalised rankings.
The tool also introduces AI smart suggestions, surfacing recommendations like “beachfront hotels in Goa” or “Ooty stays with mountain views.” Each suggestion is tagged with reasons such as “great for families” or “private pools available,” helping travellers make decisions with confidence.
Traveller Experience
Ankit Khanna, Chief Product Officer at MakeMyTrip, explained the company’s vision: “Our goal is to make travel planning as natural as conversation. With AI Search, we’re simplifying one of the most important parts of the journey — finding the right stay. Instead of forcing users to think like a system, we’ve built a system that understands how people naturally express themselves.”
This marks a significant shift in travel planning, where search becomes conversational and intuitive, reflecting how users actually plan their trips.
Myra Expands Role
The launch of AI search comes on the heels of Myra’s Beta launch. Myra is MakeMyTrip’s GenAI trip planning assistant, designed to support users through the entire travel cycle — from destination discovery and bookings to in-trip guidance and post-travel assistance.

Currently available in English and Hindi, Myra supports both voice and text inputs. The company plans to expand Myra into multiple Indian languages after analysing user feedback and refining conversation flows.
MakeMyTrip Partners
MakeMyTrip has also been steadily strengthening its ecosystem through partnerships with global technology players, domestic travel providers, and hospitality chains. These partnerships aim to create a more connected travel experience, ensuring users have access to curated stays, seamless bookings, and better value.
By working with hotels, homestay operators, and third-party service providers, MakeMyTrip is building a network that not only powers AI-based discovery but also ensures reliability and trust for travellers. The company’s collaboration with partners plays a vital role in delivering AI-curated search results that are accurate, verified, and aligned with user needs.
Future of AI in Travel
With AI-driven innovations like Semantic Search and Myra, MakeMyTrip is moving towards a new era of personalised travel planning. The company believes that making search conversational and human-like is the key to simplifying the often overwhelming task of finding the perfect accommodation.
As more travellers embrace AI-powered planning, MakeMyTrip is positioning itself at the centre of this transformation, offering solutions that blend convenience, personalisation, and technology to redefine how India travels.
