Indian telecom gear manufacturer HFCL is setting ambitious growth targets, aiming to become a Rs 10,000-crore revenue company. The company is focusing on increasing overseas sales and defence supplies as key drivers of this expansion.
HFCL’s Managing Director, Mahendra Nahata, revealed during an investor call that as of December 31, 2024, the company’s order book stood at Rs 10,000 crore. The company is actively expanding its global footprint by appointing employees, distributors, and dealers in key international markets.
HFCL plans to significantly increase its export revenue from the optic fibre segment, with a major portion of its telecom business revenue coming from global markets in the future.
HFCL Expansion into Europe
HFCL’s board has approved a strategic expansion into Europe by setting up an optical fibre cable manufacturing facility in Poland. This move comes after the European Commission imposed anti-dumping duties on other Indian optical fibre cable (OFC) manufacturers, reaffirming HFCL’s exemption from these duties.
HFCL reported a revenue of Rs 1,012 crore for the December 2024 quarter. While the company expects to add Rs 350-400 crore in revenue in the current quarter, it may not achieve its Rs 2,000 crore annual target due to delays in equipment supplies, customer readiness, and trials.
Securing Major Telecom Contracts
In the December quarter, HFCL secured an advance work order worth Rs 2,501.30 crore for designing, supplying, and maintaining the middle-mile network of BharatNet Phase III in Punjab. This large-scale project strengthens HFCL’s role in India’s digital infrastructure development.
Additionally, the company received a letter of intent for defence orders worth Rs 800 crore. However, due to the approval process, the order has been delayed, with HFCL working to finalize it by April or May 2025. With a strong pipeline of global projects, strategic manufacturing expansion, and key government contracts, HFCL is poised for long-term growth. By boosting exports and securing defence orders, the company is confident about achieving its Rs 10,000 crore revenue milestone in the coming years.
