Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL), India’s top private power transmission and distribution company, has won a major project worth Rs 1,660 crore in Maharashtra. The new project will focus on creating a green energy transmission network to support hydro-based power projects in the region.
Adani Wins New Project
AESL will develop 3,000 Mega Volt-Amperes (MVA) of substation capacity along with the needed transmission infrastructure. This new addition will increase the company’s total network to 26,696 circuit kilometers and bring its total transformation capacity to 93,236 MVA. This step strengthens AESL’s position as a key player in India’s growing energy sector.
The project will be executed under a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) named WRNES Talegaon Power Transmission Ltd, which has now been officially transferred to AESL. The infrastructure is expected to be completed and ready by January 2028. Once completed, it will help in evacuating 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of green energy from upcoming hydro Pumped Storage Projects (PSPs) in Maharashtra.
Energy For Urban Demand
The energy generated and transmitted through this new network will serve the rising electricity needs of Mumbai and nearby urban areas. This project is expected to improve power reliability and strengthen the renewable energy supply in the region, helping meet local and regional electricity demand.
The project was awarded through the Inter State Transmission System (ISTS) route using Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB). REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) managed the bidding process. AESL’s success in winning such large-scale competitive bids reflects its strong position in the market.
Order Book Expands
With this new win, AESL’s total order book has grown to around Rs 61,600 crore. The company continues to grow both organically and through competitive bidding, playing a key role in the country’s shift towards modern and green energy solutions.
AESL, part of the Adani Group, focuses on building sustainable, large-scale power networks. By helping transmit clean hydro energy, the Talegaon project contributes to India’s climate goals and shows AESL’s leadership in the country’s energy transition journey. This project is another step forward in India’s move toward a cleaner and more secure power future.
