Paytm has launched a standalone travel booking application called Paytm Checkin, signaling a deeper push into artificial intelligence-led services in the travel category. The move comes as the company works to strengthen its consumer offerings beyond payments. The new app is positioned to simplify planning and bookings for users by combining artificial intelligence with Paytm’s existing travel commerce capabilities.
The company said the app enables travellers to make bookings through simple conversation with an AI assistant. Users can explore travel ideas, compare options and confirm tickets for flights, trains, buses and metro services within a single interface. The AI system is being trained to learn from user behaviour, including preferences and past searches, to offer more relevant suggestions.
Paytm confirmed that these artificial intelligence features are currently in beta and will improve as the platform collects insights from real-world usage. The roll-out is expected to be gradual as the company focuses on refining the experience and adding more travel-related functionality.
New App Paytm Checkin
The app includes real-time support tools such as instant flight tracking and booking management to help travellers monitor and adjust their itineraries with ease. Paytm said the interface has been redesigned to provide faster checkout, reduced friction and greater price transparency. Zero convenience fees on bookings are positioned as a core benefit to attract users who are increasingly sensitive to additional charges on travel platforms.

Additional services include free flight cancellations for ₹99, which the company says offers flexibility at a lower cost. A Travel Pass priced at ₹249 is being promoted as a way to unlock more discounts and exclusive offers. For ground travel, Paytm Assured for buses and Ticket Assure for train bookings are designed to support refund reliability and confirmed seat assistance.
The launch builds on Paytm’s long-standing presence in digital commerce. The company has been part of India’s shift towards mobile-first payments infrastructure and believes travel will follow a similar transformation driven by automation and personalised engagement.
Company Official Statement
According to Paytm Travel chief executive Vikash Jalan, conversational search and personalised recommendations are expected to replace traditional browsing. He said the new app represents a major step in introducing AI-led decision support to Indian travellers. The company expects the approach to make planning faster and reduce the dependencies of users on external research.
Market analysts observe that the travel technology sector is becoming more competitive as firms seek to differentiate through user experience. With increased interest from global and domestic players, Paytm is focusing on AI adoption to retain its customer base across entertainment, commuting and holiday segments.
One 97 Communications
Paytm’s parent company, One 97 Communications Limited, operates multiple consumer and merchant businesses ranging from digital payments to lending and commerce services. The company has recently increased its technology investments to strengthen operational efficiency and diversify revenue streams.
Paytm Checkin is viewed as part of this transition, enabling the company to use proprietary AI systems to scale non-payments verticals and improve margins. As travel demand continues to expand in urban and regional markets, the company aims to position itself as a key digital gateway for everyday journeys.
