BMW India Achieves 10% Growth in Luxury Car Sales

BMW Group India has reported its highest-ever luxury car sales, achieving a 10% growth during the first nine months of 2024. From January to September, the group delivered a total of 10,556 cars, which includes both BMW and MINI brands, along with 5,638 motorcycles under BMW Motorrad.

The luxury carmaker also made significant strides in the electric vehicle (EV) market, delivering 725 fully-electric BMW and MINI cars in the same period. The BMW i7 emerged as the top-selling EV model in their lineup.

Luxury vehicles played a significant role in BMW’s success, contributing 17% to the total car sales. The BMW X7 model stood out as the highest-selling luxury car, further bolstered by the launch of exclusive editions like the BMW X7 Signature.

According to Vikram Pawah, President and CEO of BMW Group India, the outstanding sales performance reflects the brand’s strong strategy and its exceptional focus on customer experience. “BMW Group India is leading the market with a compelling long-wheelbase product lineup and a robust electric mobility push,” said Pawah. He added that key models, including the BMW 7 Series Long Wheelbase and BMW 3 Series Long Wheelbase, are currently dominating their segments.

Electric Vehicle Milestones

BMW Group India continues to lead in the luxury EV space, having crossed a significant milestone of 2,000 EV deliveries. The BMW iX remains the most popular luxury EV, with over 1,000 units sold so far. The group now offers six electric cars and two electric scooters in the Indian market, reflecting its commitment to sustainable mobility.

In addition to its strong presence in the EV segment, BMW Group India recorded impressive sales figures for its newly launched BMW 5 Series, with over 300 units sold and more than 600 units on order.

Sports Activity Vehicles

Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) remain a major contributor to BMW’s success in India, accounting for 55% of total sales. The BMW X1 was the most popular SAV, capturing 20% of the segment’s sales. Among sedans, the BMW 3 Series was the best-selling model, with a 19% share of total sales.

BMW Group India’s strong performance in the luxury car market, coupled with its advancements in the electric vehicle sector, reflects its commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. The company’s focus on long-wheelbase models and electric mobility continues to pay off, setting new benchmarks in the Indian luxury car market.
