Tata Electronics has teamed up with Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) to explore opportunities in semiconductor manufacturing in India. This partnership brings together several Tata Group subsidiaries, including Tata Electronics, Tata Motors, and Tejas Networks, all of which signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ADI.

Collaboration Across Multiple Sectors

The goal of this collaboration is to enhance business cooperation across various sectors, from electric vehicles to network infrastructure. Tata Motors will work with ADI to develop electronic hardware components for energy storage and power electronics for both passenger and commercial vehicles. Similarly, Tejas Networks and ADI will focus on creating advanced electronics hardware for network infrastructure in India.

Tata’s Semiconductor Initiative

Tata Electronics is at the forefront of India’s semiconductor push. The company plans to build the country’s first fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat, with an investment of $11 billion. Additionally, Tata will invest $3 billion in Assam to establish a greenfield facility for the assembly and testing of semiconductor chips.

Under this partnership, Tata and ADI will explore the possibility of manufacturing ADI’s semiconductor products at Tata’s Gujarat fab and at the outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) facility in Assam. This collaboration will boost India’s semiconductor ecosystem and strengthen the country’s role in global electronics manufacturing.

Focus on Advanced Technologies

Both companies are excited about the possibilities this partnership brings. N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, expressed the group’s commitment to building a thriving semiconductor industry in India. He noted that this partnership with ADI will help design and offer advanced products to customers across various industries.

The collaboration will accelerate the development of cutting-edge technologies, from electric vehicles to next-generation network infrastructure.

Building a Stronger Ecosystem

This partnership marks a major step forward in creating a strong electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India. It will benefit not only the domestic market but also have a positive impact on the global semiconductor supply chain. Tata has also formed similar alliances with other companies, such as ASMPT Singapore and Tokyo Electron Ltd, to further boost India’s semiconductor supply chain and infrastructure development.
