Government Partners with Swiggy to Create 12 Lakh Jobs

Share post:

In a major step toward strengthening the gig economy in India, the Ministry of Labour and Employment has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with leading food delivery platform Swiggy. This strategic Swiggy and Indian government partnership aims to enhance employment linkages in the gig and logistics sector through the National Career Service (NCS) portal.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Union Labour Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje. Speaking at the event, Mandaviya described the NCS portal as a powerful employment platform that already connects over 1.25 crore job seekers with 40 lakh registered employers. He said the partnership with Swiggy will help expand access to flexible, location-based gig jobs for youth across the country.

Swiggy Commits to Create 12 Lakh Jobs

Through this collaboration, Swiggy has committed to potentially creating more than 12 lakh job opportunities over the next two to three years. These roles will include delivery, logistics, and support services. Swiggy will now post these openings directly on the NCS portal, offering greater transparency, accessibility, and real-time availability of jobs to users.

Describing the partnership as a “win-win model,” Mandaviya said that Swiggy will gain access to a broad pool of job-ready talent, while job seekers will get better visibility and access to verified employment options. He also emphasized that the NCS platform is being developed into a one-stop solution for employment, skilling, and counselling services, including domestic and international job placements.

Swiggy and Indian Government Partnership

Swiggy’s Chief of Corporate Affairs, Dinker Vashisht, said the collaboration reflects the potential of digital entrepreneurship to transform lives. He noted that the integration with the NCS portal will support structured onboarding, create awareness about worker welfare schemes, and help in digital empowerment for gig workers. He added that this initiative will encourage inclusive growth and support India’s new-age digital economy.

By combining the government’s employment platform with Swiggy’s growing gig workforce needs, this partnership marks a major step toward creating large-scale, technology-enabled job opportunities across India. It also highlights the role of private-public partnerships in shaping the future of employment in the digital age.
