Startups in India are set to expand significantly by the year 2030, with the number of startups expected to double from the current 1.2 lakh to 2.4 lakh. This expansion is projected to create 5 crore new jobs across different sectors. Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary, recently shared this update during his virtual address at the 3rd Annual Technical Festival “EPITOME 2025,” hosted by Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya in Vadodara.
According to the minister, these new job opportunities will be spread across various categories, including white-collar jobs, gig economy roles, and indirect employment in different industries. The government is actively working to ensure that India’s workforce is prepared to meet the rising demands of the job market.
Jobs Creation & Startups in India By 2030
To help young professionals gain the skills needed for modern industries, the government has launched a scheme worth Rs 60,000 crore. This initiative aims to upgrade Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the country. By improving these institutes, the government plans to equip India’s youth with industry-relevant skills and create a more skilled workforce.
Minister Jayant Chaudhary emphasized that having the right skill set is essential not just for individual success but also for the country’s economic growth. In today’s knowledge-driven world, industries require highly trained professionals to stay competitive.
The minister highlighted the need to address the skill gap in technical fields such as railways, aviation, and logistics. These sectors play a critical role in the country’s infrastructure and require skilled professionals to improve efficiency and productivity.
Chaudhary stressed the importance of strong collaboration between industry, academia, and the government. By working together, educational institutions and industries can ensure that students receive practical, hands-on training. This collaboration will prepare young professionals for emerging job opportunities and help reduce inefficiencies in critical sectors.
Role of Logistics in Driving Economic Growth
The minister also spoke about the growing importance of logistics in accelerating economic growth. He explained that efficient transportation systems can speed up development and boost productivity. The future of logistics, according to Chaudhary, will focus on green and digital solutions, with AI-driven predictive maintenance playing a key role in improving operations.
The PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan is already creating new opportunities in logistics, aviation, and maritime industries. These investments are opening global career pathways for Indian youth and making skill development even more crucial for the country’s progress.
During the event, Chaudhary praised Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya for its industry-driven approach to education. He advised the university to collaborate with National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) to enhance reskilling and upskilling programs. This collaboration will help young professionals stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, making them more competitive in the global job market.
India’s growing startup ecosystem, combined with investments in skill development and logistics, is paving the way for a brighter future. By focusing on collaboration, innovation, and upskilling, the country is preparing to meet the demands of a rapidly changing economy while creating millions of new job opportunities for its youth.
