Amazon Web Services (AWS) has unveiled a groundbreaking software development approach powered by generative AI. Announced at the AWS DevSphere 2025 event in Bengaluru, the AI-DLC (AI-Driven Development Lifecycle) methodology is designed to place artificial intelligence at the centre of software development.
Swami Sivasubramanian, Vice President of Agentic AI at AWS, introduced the AI-DLC methodology, describing it as an openly accessible framework for organisations building complex systems at scale. The methodology is available starting today as a free resource on AWS and as a custom workflow in Kiro.
AWS AI-DLC Methodology
Unlike traditional methodologies, AI-DLC integrates AI into every stage of development, from planning to deployment. This approach enables human oversight while AI handles tasks such as workflow orchestration, coding, testing, and deployment, allowing teams to focus on strategic objectives.
Sivasubramanian highlighted that global companies like S&P Global, Wipro, HackerRank, and Dhan are already using AI-DLC to reduce project timelines from months to days or even hours. The methodology incorporates AWS tools and frameworks such as Amazon Q Developer, Strands Agents, and Kiro.
Wipro Demonstrates Success
At the keynote session, Sandhya Arun, Chief Technology Officer at Wipro, shared how the company has adopted the AI-DLC methodology. She revealed that by leveraging Amazon Q Developer, Wipro built four production-ready modules in just 20 hours, demonstrating the methodology’s ability to deliver rapid results.

Sivasubramanian emphasized that AI-DLC provides a practical way for businesses to embed AI within the software development lifecycle while maintaining high levels of quality and innovation.
AI-Native Builders Community
Alongside AI-DLC, AWS announced the formation of the AWS AI-Native Builders Community. This peer-to-peer network brings together technology leaders to share insights, breakthroughs, and best practices on AI adoption.
Neil Fox, Senior Vice President for Generative AI at Persistent Systems and a founding member of the community, stated that collaboration is essential. “No single company can figure this out alone. This community connects innovators leading the transformation of software delivery with AI,” he said.
The initiative aims to accelerate AI-native transformation across industries, ensuring companies can build smarter, faster, and more efficiently with AWS’s AI-powered solutions.
