Zepto Sees 10x Growth in Ganesh Idols This Ganesh Chaturthi

Zepto, India’s fastest-growing consumer online company, has transformed this year’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, reporting a massive 10x growth in the sale of Ganesh idols compared to last year. Zepto’s commitment to delivering eco-friendly products and festive essentials has resonated with families across the country, making the festival greener and more convenient for everyone.

Demand for Sweets and Modak Moulds

As families prepare to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi, Zepto has seen a significant increase in the online demand for sweets and festive items. Sales of ready-made modaks, the quintessential treat for the occasion, have skyrocketed, with 1,500 being sold every hour. Additionally, modak moulds, essential for preparing these delicacies at home, are being purchased at a steady rate of 500 per hour.

Among the cities leading this sweet revolution, Bengaluru stands out, contributing 25% of all sweet-related orders this festive season. Mumbai, always a strong contender, follows closely behind with 18%, while Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, and Chennai round out the top five cities, contributing 17%, 12%, and 6% of orders respectively.

Zepto’s Commitment to Sustainability

Zepto’s efforts extend beyond sweets. The company has championed sustainability by partnering with Svasti, a vendor dedicated to producing 100% eco-friendly Ganesh idols. Through this partnership, Zepto has empowered over 100 local artisans, ensuring that more than 10,000 eco-friendly idols are sold across India this year. These sustainable products are gaining popularity, reflecting a growing awareness of the need for environmentally friendly celebrations.

In just the last 24 hours, Zepto has sold over 70,000 Indian sweets, solidifying its role as a go-to platform for festive treats. Mumbai led the charge, with the city accounting for more than one-third of all modak orders, while Bengaluru preferred the simplicity of pedas, which made up nearly half of the orders there. Meanwhile, in Delhi NCR and Hyderabad, laddoos emerged as the top choice, with almost 50% of all laddoo orders coming from these regions.

Flowers vs. Laddoos

Zepto has also seen fierce competition between two other festival essentials: laddoos and flowers. In a closely contested race, 6,312 kilograms of laddoos were sold, just short of the 6,860 kilograms of flowers delivered across the country. The demand for these items highlights the diverse ways in which people are embracing traditional celebrations this Ganesh Chaturthi.

Trends in Ganesh Chaturthi

Zepto has experienced substantial growth across various categories during this festive season. The sale of modaks has grown by 5x, affirming their status as the ultimate festive treat. Laddoos, a staple of Indian sweets, have seen 2.5x growth, proving that one is never enough! Other Indian mithai also doubled in demand, making this Ganesh Chaturthi a particularly sweet one for Zepto’s customers.

Zepto: Flowers vs. Laddoos – A Festive Competition

In addition to sweets, pooja essentials such as flowers, coconuts, and Durva grass have seen a 2x increase in demand, keeping traditions alive in households across the country. And, of course, the 10x growth in Ganesh idol sales shows just how many families Zepto is helping to celebrate this year’s festival.

Swift Delivery for Festive Needs

One of the reasons behind Zepto’s success this Ganesh Chaturthi is its quick delivery service. Whether it’s modak moulds or eco-friendly idols, Zepto ensures that all festive essentials arrive at customers’ doorsteps in minutes. This convenience has allowed families to celebrate with ease, combining tradition with modern, hassle-free solutions.
