Zoom Video Communications has launched its first cloud phone solution in India, named Zoom Phone. This new service is licensed by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and aims to improve voice communication for businesses across the country.
Features and Benefits
Zoom Phone is designed to provide secure, reliable, and flexible voice communication. It integrates smoothly with the Zoom Workplace platform, enhancing collaboration among teams with advanced AI-powered features. The service was first introduced in the Maharashtra Telecom Circle, specifically in Pune, and is aimed at helping both multinational enterprises and local companies.
We are thrilled to bring Zoom Phone to India, empowering companies to improve employee engagement and elevate customer experiences.
Sameer Raje, Head of Zoom India
Sameer Raje, the general manager and head of Zoom India and SAARC, expressed excitement about the launch. He stated, “We are thrilled to bring Zoom Phone to India, empowering companies to improve employee engagement and elevate customer experiences.”
Upgrading Communication Systems
With Zoom Phone, businesses can make both inbound and outbound calls using the public switched telephone network (PSTN). This capability allows companies to replace their outdated private branch exchange (PBX) systems. Traditional PBX networks enable internal and external communication through various channels, including Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and standard PSTN lines.
Zoom’s cloud-based PBX service complies with India’s Unified Telecom license requirements, ensuring that businesses can trust and rely on this solution. The service includes AI-driven features such as post-call summaries, voicemail prioritization, and task extraction, all designed to enhance productivity and user convenience.
Global Success of Zoom Phone
Velchamy Sankarlingam, Zoom’s president of product and engineering, shared insights on the service’s success globally. He noted that Zoom Phone has seen significant growth in the market, gaining five customers with over 100,000 seats in the first quarter of FY25. This growth demonstrates the trust customers have in Zoom for essential employee and customer experience processes.
The launch of Zoom Phone marks a significant step in improving communication for businesses in India. By utilizing AI-driven cloud technology, Zoom aims to empower companies to enhance their employee and customer interactions, ultimately driving success in the competitive market.
