Sapphire Media Acquires BIG 92.7 FM to Boost Media Reach

Share post:

Sapphire Media Limited has officially completed the takeover of the popular FM radio network, BIG 92.7 FM. The radio brand was earlier owned by Reliance Broadcast Networks Limited and had been under a corporate insolvency resolution process since February 2023. Rohit Mehra acted as the resolution professional during this process.

Acquisition of BIG 92.7 FM

The acquisition was finalized after Sapphire Media received all required approvals from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. As part of the approved resolution plan, the company also made all pending payments to the creditors of Reliance Broadcast Networks within the given timeline.

The resolution plan from Sapphire Media had earlier faced objections from competitors like Radio Orange. However, both the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) and the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) supported Sapphire’s proposal. NCLAT gave its approval on December 23, 2024, followed by NCLT’s nod on May 6, 2025.

Big Market Presence

Radio BIG 92.7 FM is among India’s largest FM networks. It operates 58 radio stations and reaches over 1,200 towns and more than 50,000 villages. With this strong presence, the brand now strengthens Sapphire Media’s plan to grow aggressively in radio and digital broadcasting.

This acquisition comes after Sapphire Media launched its 24×7 Hindi news channel, India Daily 24X7, which has already made a name for itself with reliable journalism and modern news coverage. Sapphire Media also manages one of India’s largest outdoor advertising networks, giving it a strong presence across TV, print, digital, radio, and outdoor media.

Led By Visionaries

The media group is led by Kaithal-based entrepreneur Sahil Mangla and media professional-turned-entrepreneur Aditya Vashistha. With the addition of BIG 92.7 FM, the company is now positioned to become a major force in India’s fast-changing media landscape.
