Samsung is preparing to unveil a brand-new category of smartphones, a tri-fold phone by the end of 2025. This move signals the next big step in the evolution of foldable smartphones, as the company aims to extend its leadership in this innovative space.
Minseok Kang, Vice President of Product Planning at Samsung Electronics, confirmed the development at a recent event. Following the launch of Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, Samsung now shifts focus to finalizing and perfecting its tri-fold device for public release.
Focus Stays on Perfection
The company is deeply focused on ensuring product perfection and smooth usability before releasing the tri-fold device. TM Roh, Samsung’s mobile division head, stated in a media interaction post the recent Galaxy Unpacked event that the product is in active development and will be released within the year.
Although the official name for the tri-fold phone hasn’t been revealed, this is the first time Samsung has clearly confirmed both the timeline and its intention to enter the tri-fold space commercially.
Device Features Expected
While Samsung hasn’t released official visuals or teaser campaigns yet, early leaks indicate that the tri-fold phone might feature a 10-inch OLED display. This display is expected to fold twice, making it highly portable despite its large screen size.
The device could run on Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and may include upgraded multitasking capabilities to support the unique tri-fold form factor.
Price and Availability
Initial reports suggest the tri-fold phone may be priced upwards of $2,900, or roughly Rs 2.49 lakh. At such a premium price, it’s likely to be positioned as a luxury innovation product and may be released in limited markets initially.
According to industry insiders, the first-generation tri-fold may launch exclusively in Samsung’s home market South Korea and in China, possibly to test user reception before a wider global rollout.
How Much Will a Samsung Trifold Cost?
Based on insider sources and early reports, the Samsung tri-fold phone could be one of the most expensive consumer smartphones at launch. With an expected price around $2,900 (Rs 2.49 lakh), it will likely be aimed at early adopters and tech enthusiasts willing to invest in a futuristic device.
Samsung’s pricing reflects its ambition to lead in advanced hardware, combining foldable screen technology with AI-driven user experiences. As the foldable market matures, the tri-fold phone could pave the way for more mainstream adoption in the future.
