Practo has appointed CK Mishra as an independent director on its board. The development was announced by the company as part of its efforts to strengthen governance and strategic oversight while expanding its digital healthcare platform.
Mishra is a former Indian Administrative Service officer who has served in public administration for nearly four decades. During his career, he held several senior roles across sectors including health, environment, education, industry and power.
He retired from government service in 2020 after completing his tenure in multiple leadership positions. His administrative experience includes policy implementation, programme management and institutional governance within the public sector.
According to the company, Mishra’s understanding of large-scale public systems and infrastructure development is expected to support Practo’s ongoing efforts to build a comprehensive technology-led healthcare ecosystem.
Public Service
One of Mishra’s key assignments during his career was serving as Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. In this role, he was involved in overseeing several national health programmes and managing large public health systems across the country.
His tenure included responsibility for coordinating healthcare initiatives that required collaboration between central and state governments, public health institutions and private stakeholders.
Such experience is considered relevant as digital healthcare companies increasingly interact with policy frameworks, healthcare providers and regulatory systems while expanding services.
Mishra has also worked across multiple government departments during his career, contributing to policy planning and programme implementation in different sectors of public administration.
Board Expansion
With Mishra joining the board, Practo continues to expand its leadership team as it focuses on long-term growth and governance. The company has recently added other experienced professionals to its board as well.
Among them are TVG Krishnamurthy and Alexander Kuruvilla. These additions are part of the company’s broader effort to strengthen strategic guidance and organisational resilience.
Practo has been working to build an integrated digital healthcare platform that connects different stakeholders within the healthcare ecosystem. The board expansion is expected to support this long-term vision.
The company believes that experienced leaders from diverse sectors can help guide the platform as it scales technology-driven healthcare services in India and international markets.
Digital Platform
Practo was founded in 2008 by Shashank ND with the aim of improving access to healthcare through digital technology. Over the years, the platform has expanded into multiple healthcare services.
The company’s platform currently connects patients with more than 700,000 doctors and healthcare providers. Through its services, users can search for doctors, book appointments and access other healthcare-related information.
Practo also offers a hospital information management system called Insta. The system is used by more than 500 clients across over 1,200 healthcare facilities worldwide to manage hospital operations and patient data.
As digital healthcare adoption grows, companies like Practo are working to build technology platforms that support medical professionals, hospitals and patients within a single connected ecosystem. The appointment of C. K. Mishra to the board reflects the company’s effort to combine technology expertise with administrative and governance experience as it continues to scale its operations.
