Global hospitality brand OYO, led by Ritesh Agarwal, has appointed Sonal Sinha as the new CEO of G6 Hospitality. OYO acquired the U.S.-based motel chain from Blackstone Real Estate in a deal that was finalized last December. This move strengthens OYO’s presence in North America, adding 1,500 franchised hotels under the Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands to its portfolio.
OYO Strengthens Its Global Business
With the integration of G6 Hospitality, OYO expects to generate $1.7 billion in gross bookings, significantly boosting its global revenue. The company is aiming for a total gross booking value of $3 billion worldwide, with the United States expansion playing a key role.
Why Sonal Sinha Chosen as CEO
Sinha has been with OYO since 2015 and previously served as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for OYO’s international business. During his tenure, he helped improve profit margins, financial processes, taxation, and accounting systems.
OYO’s founder and Group CEO Ritesh Agarwal praised Sinha’s contribution, stating,
“Sonal has played a crucial role in OYO’s international growth. His deep knowledge of the business and ability to enhance performance make him the perfect leader to drive G6 Hospitality’s success.”
New Responsibilities for Sonal Sinha
As CEO of G6 Hospitality, Sinha will oversee the integration of the motel chain into OYO’s larger operations. He will report to Gautam Swaroop, CEO of OYO’s International Business. His leadership will focus on expanding G6’s brand, streamlining operations, and improving customer experience.
Leadership Changes at OYO
Alongside this major appointment, OYO also announced the departure of its Chief Growth Officer, Kavikrut. He has stepped down from his role to take on a new position as CEO of T-Hub, an incubator that supports startups in Telangana, India.
Ritesh Agarwal shared his appreciation for Kavikrut’s contributions, saying, “Kavikrut has been a key part of OYO since the early days, shaping our culture and growth. While we will miss his leadership, I am excited to see him contribute to India’s startup ecosystem in his new role.”
OYO Expansion Strategy in the U.S.
With G6 Hospitality now under OYO’s management, the company aims to strengthen its position in the American hotel market. The acquisition adds affordable, long-stay, and economy hotels to OYO’s offerings, catering to a diverse range of travelers.
This strategic expansion aligns with OYO’s long-term goal of becoming a global leader in the hospitality industry, offering both budget and premium stays across different regions. With Sinha leading G6 Hospitality, OYO is set to enhance its North American presence while maintaining its rapid global growth.
