HCLTech has appointed Kiran Cherukuri as the Global GCC Practice Leader. This move highlights HCLTech’s focus on India’s fast-growing Global Capability Center (GCC) space. With over 30 years of experience in the tech industry, Cherukuri is returning to HCLTech to lead new efforts in helping global companies set up or grow their delivery centers in India.

Cherukuri Leads Strategy

In this new role, Cherukuri will be responsible for building strong service offerings that bring together HCLTech’s advanced tech solutions and corporate services. He will aim to expand the company’s partnerships with GCCs. Currently, HCLTech works with over 200 GCCs across India, making it a major player in this segment.

Rahul Singh, Chief Operating Officer of Corporate Functions at HCLTech, said that GCCs have become innovation hubs for global companies. He added that HCLTech is increasing its focus on this area, especially in India. Singh also expressed confidence in Cherukuri’s leadership and experience to strengthen the company’s presence in the GCC market.

Return To HCLTech

Cherukuri previously worked at HCLTech for more than 14 years. He held leadership positions across digital services, engineering, industry solutions, and talent management. His return marks a new chapter where he brings both industry experience and entrepreneurial insights. Cherukuri said he is excited to rejoin HCLTech and support its growth in the GCC sector, adding that GCCs are evolving to deliver more value by transforming technology and skills.

The GCC segment in India is seeing rising interest from top global IT players like Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro, Capgemini, and Accenture. These companies have started dedicated teams to support GCC expansion. Last month, Infosys appointed Deval Shah to lead its own GCC division. As more global companies turn to insourcing through GCCs, this trend continues to gain momentum in India’s digital transformation journey.
