Freshworks Appoints Murali Swaminathan as New CTO

US-based SaaS leader Freshworks has appointed Murali Swaminathan as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the company announced on Tuesday. In his new role, Murali will oversee Freshworks’ technology strategy and roadmap, leading the company’s global engineering and architecture teams.

Murali’s appointment reflects Freshworks’ ongoing investment in talent and resources aimed at enhancing employee and customer experience solutions. He will be part of the executive management team and will report directly to Dennis Woodside, the Chief Executive Officer and President of Freshworks.

Who Is Murali Swaminathan?

Murali Swaminathan brings over 30 years of experience in software engineering and management to Freshworks. He holds a master’s degree in Software Engineering Management from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Instrumentation from Annamalai University in India.

Before joining Freshworks, Murali worked at ServiceNow as Vice President of Engineering. In this role, he was responsible for the company’s market-leading IT Service Management and Strategic Portfolio Management products, which are used by large enterprises worldwide. His leadership was instrumental in developing the modern application architecture that supports these products.

Murali’s Career Journey

Prior to his time at ServiceNow, Murali served as Vice President of Engineering at Recommind, which is now part of OpenText. He also held several key positions at CA Technologies, now under Broadcom Inc., where he played a crucial role in advancing the company’s enterprise software solutions.

Murali expressed excitement about his new role, stating, “It’s an incredible time to join Freshworks as we aim to grow into a multi-billion-dollar software company.
