EaseMyTrip Reports Rs 33.9 Crore Profit in Q1 FY25

EaseMyTrip, operated by Easy Trip Planners Ltd, has reported a strong financial performance for the first quarter of fiscal year 2025 (Q1 FY25). The online travel ticket booking platform achieved a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 33.93 crore, marking a significant 31% increase compared to the Rs 25.9 crore profit recorded in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year (Q1 FY24). This positive outcome reflects the company’s successful strategies and market expansion efforts.

Impressive Revenue Growth

EaseMyTrip’s revenue from operations experienced robust growth, rising by 23.34% year-over-year to reach Rs 156.12 crore in Q1 FY25. This is a notable improvement from the Rs 126.46 crore in revenue generated during Q1 FY24. The growth was primarily driven by the company’s strong performance in the Middle Eastern market, particularly in Dubai. The region has shown tremendous potential for expansion, and EaseMyTrip has successfully capitalized on this opportunity.

Co-founder Prashant Pitti highlighted the importance of the Middle East market, saying, “The management is spending a good amount of time in Middle East operations, which is a huge market, still highly untapped.”

Challenges and Rising Expenses

Despite the impressive revenue growth, EaseMyTrip faced some challenges during the quarter. The company’s total expenses increased by 19%, reaching Rs 109.03 crore in Q1 FY25, up from Rs 91.56 crore in Q1 FY24. One of the notable challenges was a one-time expense of Rs 72.4 crore related to “advances to supplier written off” due to the closure of Go Airlines. While this increased expenditure slightly offset the profit growth, the company was able to maintain its profitability.

EaseMyTrip also reported substantial growth in its non-air business segments, which include hotel bookings and holiday packages. Gross booking revenue from these segments surged by 116.6% year-over-year, reaching Rs 210.7 crore in Q1 FY25. This growth highlights the company’s success in diversifying its offerings and expanding into new areas beyond its core air ticketing services.

Positive Outlook Despite Challenges

Overall, EaseMyTrip’s performance in Q1 FY25 reflects its ability to adapt and thrive in a competitive market. The company’s focus on the Middle East and its diversification into non-air segments have been key drivers of its success. Despite facing challenges such as rising expenses and one-time costs, EaseMyTrip has demonstrated resilience and continues to maintain strong profitability. As the company continues to expand and innovate, it remains well-positioned for future growth.
